Minutes

Attendance: Diane Sauvageau, Chair; Kelly Eisenbise; Gregory Frotton; Carol Gilkinson; Jeanine Robertson

Diane Sauvageau called the meeting to order at 3 p.m.

A review of the work done by the committee at the last meeting. Since it was a "work meeting" there were no formal minutes presented. The committee finalized the Technology Fluency Checklists and worked on Character Counts in a Digital World lessons.

There was a question regarding the content filter. It was noticed that more social media sites (i.e., YouTube, Facebook, etc) had been opened up. Diane mentioned keeping these locked and opening them up when there was a request was not an efficient use of her department's time and resources. The use of the Web is being monitored and if needed we can revert back to the former process if needed. It was mentioned that networking with other educators in personal learning networks in a great way to share best practices and have questions answered.

Technology Fluency Checklists have been shared with the elementary principals and should be going out soon. The committee is asked to be a resource for employees at their site if there are questions regarding this new form.

Review of District Technology Plan. We are doing well. We are not progressing as fast as we had hoped, but we are meeting the goals.

There was a long discussion regarding issues related to printing from the Web-based version of Accelerated Math.

Diane reported on Technology Department updates:

  • Moving to Active Desktop from Novell Netware
  • Finalizing Standards-Based report cards in Aeries
  • Moving ROMS textbooks from Spectrum to Aeries

Next meeting Wed., Oct. 19, 2011
