DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need.
Here's how it works: public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class.
Then, you can browse project requests and give any amount to the one that inspires you. Once a project reaches its funding goal, we deliver the materials to the school.
You'll get photos of your project taking place, a thank-you letter from the teacher, and a cost report showing how each dollar was spent. If you give over $50, you'll also receive hand-written thank-you letters from the students.
At DonorsChoose.org, you can give as little as $1 and get the same level of choice, transparency, and feedback that is traditionally reserved for someone who gives millions. We call it citizen philanthropy.
StopBullying.gov provides information from various government agencies on what bullying is, what cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how you can prevent and respond to bullying.
Get tips, facts, toolkits, training materials, and more at the Web site. This inventory includes federal and non-federal training materials, evidence-based program directories, articles, and other resources that you may find helpful in addressing the problem of bullying. Inclusion of non-federal resources in this directory does not imply any endorsement or promotion of the materials. Only non-federal materials that have been nominated and have been verified to meet criteria set out by StopBullying.gov are included. StopBullying.gov does not guarantee the accuracy of any non-federal resource listed.

Having fun with Math the Sumdog way!
Sumdog is a free math site that using fun interactive games to deliver Common Core State Standards. The games are aimed for students grades 1st through 8th grade. What makes Sumdog so great is that it is self-paced learning that covers number operations through to simple algebra. As students answer the math problems Sumdog's learning engine adapts its questions to each student's ability which in turns helps teachers deliver those CCSS and move students to the mastery level.
The games are not tied to specific topics, which I think helps keep kids engaged. Sumdog holds different contests throughout the year from National Wide contest to State Wide contest.
Sumdog will soon be running a free online math contest for our region. This contest was organized with Sandy Dowden at LACOE. Sumdog wants to ensure that the Charter Oak Unified School District is aware that it's taking place!
